Senior Cost Manager

Role: MEP Project Cost Consultant
We are expanding our Health, Life Science & Research Science Cost Management team and are seeking an experienced MEP Project Cost Consultant to drive high-impact projects—ranging from large international programmes to tailored commissions for our national and global clients.
With expertise in cost management, planning, estimating, budgeting, procurement, and contract administration, you’ll work collaboratively to optimise budgets, enhance project delivery, and ensure cost efficiency throughout the lifecycle—from early design (RIBA Stage 1) to completion.
Responsibilities span across the UK and Europe, with primary focus areas in London, Oxford, and Cambridge. However, involvement in our wider network offers exciting worldwide opportunities. This role will enable you to mentör junior colleagues, collaborate within multidisciplinary teams, and play a pivotal role in ensuring projects stay on time and on budget.

Core Responsibilities
- Deliver MEP quantity surveying and commercial cost management services for clients in healthcare, life sciences, and research sectors.
- Develop cost estimates, conduct feasibility studies, establish benchmarks, and manage cost plans.
- Support procurement processes, evaluate tenders, review and approve contractor proposals, and oversee contract variations.
- Implement cost control during construction and ensure smooth handover, offering guidance on value engineering and whole-life cost considerations.
- Collaborate closely with design, engineering, and project teams, aligning with internal systems to enhance skills and teamwork across all project stages.
Qualifications & Experience
- ARICS Quantity Surveyor qualification or equivalent certification in commercial/quantity surveying (candidates with strong MEP commercial expertise and non-standard qualifications are welcome).
- Proven experience in medium-/large-scale construction projects, with knowledge of research, life sciences, or healthcare preferred but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated capabilities in cost estimation, with alignment to rates, benchmarking, and cost databases.
- Strong track record of full project lifecycle delivery and the ability to foster client relationships.
- Proficiency in digital cost management tools such as CostX and 5D BIM, alongside an openness to adapting to new technologies.
