Title And Summary
Senior Counsel
Mastercard Services helps make commerce smarter, safer, and more personalized through data, technology, insights, security, and customer engagement solutions. As part of the Mastercard Services Legal team, you will partner with business leaders, product teams, sales organizations, privacy, regulatory, and regional legal teams to help develop, launch, commercialize, and scale innovative products globally.
Reporting to the Senior Managing Counsel, you will serve as the lead legal advisor for designated Mastercard Services product verticals globally, primarily within the Business & Market Insights (BMI) product group. This individual will partner closely with product management, product development, commercial, and regional stakeholders to support the full product lifecycle—from concept and design through commercialization, customer contracting, and ongoing product evolution.

This role requires a strategic, business-oriented attorney who can balance legal and regulatory considerations with commercial objectives, enable innovation, and help scale products globally through consistent legal frameworks and repeatable contracting approaches.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as primary legal counsel and trusted advisor for the assigned BMI product verticals and related business teams worldwide, in line with corporate objectives and business imperatives.
- Provide proactive legal guidance throughout the full product lifecycle, including from ideation, product development, enhancements, commercialization, market expansion, and retirement – whilst ensuring compliance and enabling innovation.
- Support complex technology, partner, reseller, and strategic commercial transactions, including structuring, drafting and negotiating proof of concept and pilot agreements, vendor contracts, licensing arrangements, and strategic partnerships governing use of Mastercard’s solutions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Privacy, IP, Regulatory, Compliance and regional legal teams to address legal, regulatory, and commercial considerations.
- Partner with product development teams to identify and address issues early and delivering practical, business-oriented solutions.
- Provide strategic risk analysis to senior management, balancing legal requirements and appropriate risk controls with business objectives.
- Contribute to the development of legal best practices and scalable operating models across Services.
