We’re offering an exceptional opportunity for an outstanding individual to step into a senior role – ideal for someone looking to expand their expertise, broaden their senior network, and influence decisions at the highest levels of the Group.
As a Senior Credit Officer, you’ll be a Centre of Excellence for CIB and specialist portfolios, leading deep dives into complex asset classes, sectors, and products – from derivatives to financial markets. Acting as a trusted advisor and subject-matter guide, you’ll work closely with senior credit and business leaders, shaping strategy, standards and credit appetite across our organisation.
What You’ll Do
In this high-profile role, you’ll:
- Craft high-quality credit risk opinions supporting CIB strategies, risk appetite requests, scenarios, stress testing, emerging risks and regulatory/rating agency queries.
- Influence and enhance policy, reviewing and shaping CIB and specialist Credit policies, standards, portfolio mandates and complex transactions.
- Serve as the single point of contact for specialist credit queries, portfolio changes and new product proposals.
- Play a pivotal role in CIB’s Transaction Execution Committee and Markets Product Committee, reviewing proposals and providing recommendations.
- Scan the horizon for economic, market and political developments, helping the team maintain robust portfolio and policy frameworks.
- Drive innovation, leading ad-hoc projects that enhance our reporting, appetite frameworks, and sector insights.
- Champion leadership, supporting an inclusive, skilled, high-performing team culture.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
