Senior Crime Solicitor – Manchester City Centre

Competitive base salary + generous bonus scheme

We are working with a Tier 1 Legal 500-ranked and Chambers-recognised firm to recruit an experienced Senior Crime Solicitor to join their multi-award-winning expert team in their modern Manchester office.

This is a predominantly privately funded client role, focusing on pre-charge advice, engagement, and the charging process in serious criminal matters. No duty status required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a diverse caseload of criminal defence matters for both private and publicly funded clients
  • Attending court hearings and representing clients at police stations
  • Conducting advocacy in Magistrates Court
  • Mentoring and supervising junior lawyers and trainees
  • Preparing clear, accurate legal advice and documentation
  • Liaising with clients, courts, and third parties to streamline case progression
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards

Ideal Candidate Requirements

  • Solicitor with at least 3 years' PQE (preferably in Crime)—strong criminal defence experience essential
  • Solid background in Criminal Investigations and Defence strategies
  • Exceptional communication and client care skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Criminal Law and court procedures
  • Ability to manage caseloads and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in Legal IT systems & strong organisational skills
  • Proactive, team-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous development
