Senior Criminal Defence Solicitor – Nottingham (with Nationwide Travel)
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Criminal Defence Solicitor to join a highly regarded and specialist criminal law team in their Nottingham office.
This position offers the chance to work on a diverse and high-quality privately funded Crime caseload, advising both individuals and companies facing investigation or prosecution by a wide range of authorities.
Responsibilities
You will provide confidential, high-quality legal advice and representation, guiding clients through every stage of their case while ensuring they fully understand their position and options. The role requires a sensitive, discreet, and client-focused approach, helping to minimise the impact of proceedings on clients’ personal and professional lives.
The caseload will include:
- Privately funded investigations and prosecutions by enforcement and regulatory bodies
- Complex criminal cases such as fraud, serious sexual offences, and confiscation proceedings
- Nationwide travel to police stations and courts as required

You will also contribute to:
- Maintaining the firm’s high professional standards
- Supporting business development initiatives
- Collaborating closely with a team of experienced criminal lawyers
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with 7+ years’ Post-Qualification Experience (PQE)
- Strong experience handling a broad range of criminal defence matters
- Proven track record managing complex cases and achieving successful outcomes
- Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills
- Experience advising clients across all stages of criminal proceedings
- Strong client care and relationship management ability
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a specialist team
- Strong organisational skills and effective time management
- Thorough understanding of criminal law, procedure, and professional obligations
- Happy to travel nationwide as per client location
