Senior Crowd Safety Manager & Deputy Safety Officer – Wembley Stadium
The FA is seeking an experienced and highly organised Crowd Safety professional to lead delivery of safe, world-class events at one of the world’s most iconic venues.
This dual role combines Senior Crowd Safety Manager and Deputy Safety Officer, requiring flexibility to work across Wembley Stadium’s dynamic programme of major events, including weekends and evening shifts.
What the Role Involves
- Work closely with the Senior Deputy Safety Officer for all bowel events at Wembley Stadium
- Manage and oversee crowd safety planning processes, including:
- The senior event-day crowd safety command structure
- Stewards and security staff teams
- Lead a diverse team of event professionals, fostering an inclusive, high-performing culture aligned with FA Group values
- Oversee Steward agency contracts and associated KPIs to ensure compliance
- Ensure adherence to legislative obligations and stadium protocols, including:
- Development of event processes, procedures, and documentation
- Support for recruitment, training, and ongoing development of crowd safety teams
- Collaborate with the Stadium Safety Officer and Security teams to ensure coordinated event delivery
- Drive continuous improvement through:
- Statistical analysis of event-day performance
- Development of training modules tailored to event types (e.g., International Football, Club Football, Music, NFL)
- Support the Events Team in developing venue strategies, delivering operationally efficient, bespoke event frameworks
- Budget management: Monitor and report on Crowd Safety department finances, providing accurate forecasts to the Stadium Safety Officer
- Execute additional tasks as required to meet evolving FA priorities while maintaining high safety standards
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and welfare policies

Key Requirements
Essential Criteria
- NVQ Level 4 Spectator Safety qualification (or equivalent, with confirmation of progress)
- Proven experience as a Deputy Safety Officer, demonstrating expertise across diverse event types
- Strong crowd safety management experience
- Clear track record as a team leader, with hands-on experience managing diverse teams and fostering positive working cultures
- Ability to cultivate consistent best-practice behaviours
- In-depth knowledge of venue and major event legislation
- Flexibility for weekend/evening work, including unplanned shifts
Desirable Attributes
- Experience in presenting and influencing stakeholders
- Understanding of Equality Act issues, particularly disability discrimination
- Experience collaborating with police forces on event days
- Commitment to continuous professional development
- Knowledge of tech tools in event management and crowd safety
