Senior Cryptoasset and Payment Supervisor

Division: Supervision, Policy & Competition (SPC)

Department: Market Interventions – Digital Assets (MIDA)

Grade: Senior Associate – Regulatory

Salary:

  • National (Leeds & Edinburgh): £53,800 – £62,733
  • London: £59,200 – £69,000 (skill/experience-based salary)

MIDA (Payments & Digital Assets) Role

MIDA supervises cryptoasset and payments firms, setting regulatory standards to combat financial crime while supporting innovation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assessing regulatory compliance
  • Mitigating emerging risks
  • Collaborating with policy teams to shape future frameworks
  • Addressing cross-border regulatory challenges

Role Responsibilities

  • Work with innovative cryptoasset and payments firms, developing regulatory expertise
  • Lead high-profile cases, ensuring compliance and reducing consumer harm
  • Partner with FCA colleagues and UK/international stakeholders for regulatory strategies
  • Tackle complex issues (e.g., fraud, scams, financial crime across borders)
  • Advise senior industry leaders, improving standards and enforcing accountability

Requirements

Minimum

  • Working knowledge of FCA supervisory frameworks and cryptocurrency regulations
  • Experience in stakeholder relationship management (cross-organisational/cross-border)
  • Ability to analyse complex information, make judgement calls, and communicate insights clearly

  • Outstanding communication, capable of clarifying nuance for diverse audiences
  • Strategic stakeholder engagement, building trust for collaboration
  • Proactive risk assessment under pressure, managing multiple priorities efficiently
  • Analytical rigor with an ability to evaluate risks and make impactful decisions
