Senior Cyber Responder

Job reference: 465475 Salary: £41,036 plus a location allowance of £1,750 and excellent benefits Location: Based in Hanslope Park, Milton Keynes, with 60% hybrid working flexibility Free shuttle bus available between central Milton Keynes and Hanslope Park.

About the Role

As a Senior Cyber Responder within our collaborative team, you will:

  • Identify, analyse, and investigate security incidents across our complex systems—including applications, servers, and laptops.
  • Develop forensic capabilities and recovery strategies.
  • Design and employ tools and methodologies to respond to cyber threats and stabilise networks.
  • Present actionable insights on vulnerabilities and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct scheduled security assessments to ensure compliance with incident response plans.
  • Oversee the management of an Associate Cyber Responder.
  • Act as a security consultancy, advising both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Promote internal security awareness and mentor colleagues through professional development.

You will also support the 24/7 on-call team, responding to urgent incidents as they arise.


Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Investigation and Recovery
    • Examine and recover from cyber incidents affecting mission-critical tech.
    • Apply security tools & frameworks across large-scale operations.
  • Strategic Remediation and Compliance
    • Analyze security breaches and recommend mitigations to prevent future occurrences.
    • Assess business impact of vulnerabilities and execute go-to-market compliance strategies.
  • Team Leadership and Training
    • Train junior associates and foster a security-aware culture.
    • Stay updated on emerging threats and best practices.
  • On-Call Duty
    • Drive a responsive triage service to mitigate incidents 24 hours a day.

Requirements

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrable experience in resolving complex cybersecurity and technical IT issues, including incident response.
  • Strong proficiency in using data analysis tools to detect, interpret, and report on vulnerabilities.
  • Ability to produce comprehensive technical documentation and communicate findings to non-experts.
  • Equivalent certifications to NVQ Level 4 in Cyber Security, such as:
    • CompTIA Security+
    • SANS SEC401 (Intrusion Detection)
    • Level 4 Apprenticeship in Cybersecurity

Desirable

  • Proven management or team-leading experience, particularly in fast-paced environments.
  • Familiarity with:
    • Information Risk Assessment
    • Threat & Compliance Monitoring
    • Controls Testing
  • Understanding of risk management processes and incident response structures.
