Job Summary
DWP is looking to fill a Senior Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst role in the Finance directorate. This is a key role in the strategic team in the Threat Intelligence Group (TIG). We are looking for an individual who will help us deliver timely threat intelligence to support stakeholders across the department.
Cyber threat intelligence plays a key role in the Department’s effort to protect vital services that make a difference to the lives of so many living in the UK. Delivering almost £250 billion in payments annually, while maintaining one of the largest repositories of personal information in Europe, DWP is an attractive target for a broad range of malicious actors. Consequently, it is vital for DWP to identify and adapt to current and near-future cyber threats so that we keep our customers and their data safe.
The Threat Intelligence Group (TIG) is part of the Cyber Resilience Centre (CRC), and is a dynamic, innovative and service-oriented team that delivers intelligence-led security to defend the department. You will be working with government and private sector partners to build and mature this capability, detect malicious behaviour, and respond to threats.
As a Cyber Threat Intelligence Senior Analyst, you will play a leading role in the production of timely and impactful threat intelligence in the strategic team. The strategic team produces a range of intelligence assessments that identify, define, and explore threats to Departmental interests. Employing intelligence tradecraft and operating to the highest professional standards, the team provides a robust and authoritative position on current and near-future cyber threat activity, empowering executive, operational, risk and policy decision-making.
Your work will range from providing intelligence support to high-tempo cyber incident response activity, to the production of comprehensive assessment products on high profile cyber-related issues. Additionally, you will handle more challenging assessment activities, working with a range of internal and external partners. Your work will also include leadership activities across key intelligence functions, where you will have significant opportunity to use innovation to improve how the Department produces strategic intelligence. You will have significant opportunities to build both your skills and reputation as both a cyber security and intelligence professional. Job Description
As a Senior Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst, you will be responsible for:
- The production of a wide variety of intelligence products, both individually and in conjunction with internal and external partners.
- Identifying, collating and analysing strategic intelligence from multiple sources.
- Modelling threats and adversary TTPs in line with industry frameworks and standards.
- Disseminating reports and the collection of feedback.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to understand and refine intelligence requirements
- Delivering briefings to internal and external stakeholders when necessary.
- The management of assigned internal and external relationships with both stakeholders and counterparts.
- Some line management and mentoring responsibilities for junior staff.
- Building, managing and developing capabilities in line with team use cases and requirements.

Essential Criteria
- Experience of producing high-quality intelligence assessments and analysing information from a range of sources to identify and communicate threats.
- Experience working in an intelligence, analytical, or investigative environment (e.g. policing, military, government, or similar).

Desirable Criteria
- Formal intelligence analysis training (Suitable examples include) New Analyst Programme (NAP) / Defence Intelligence Analyst Module (DIAM) / Government Intelligence Analysis Techniques (GIAT) or an alternative Professional Head of Intelligence Analysis (PHIA) approved qualification.
- A good understanding of the current cyber threat landscape, including adversary tactics, techniques, procedures and capabilities, and the intrusion lifecycle.
- Experience analysing open-source, commercial and government information in order to generate a comprehensive understanding of the cyber threat landscape.
- Experience of effectively communicating threat intelligence through the appropriate use of high-quality written reports and verbal briefings.
- Experience of working in an operationally-focused and high-pressure environment.
- The ability to learn quickly and grasp essential details and be comfortable utilising others expertise to inform decision making and assessments.
