Senior CYPMH Mental Health Practitioner
Senior CYPMH Practitioner (Band 6) – South Cumbria CYPMH Service

South Cumbria Children, Young People and Mental Health (CYPMH) Service are currently recruiting for a full-time Senior CYPMH Practitioner (Band 6), to join their multi-disciplinary team. We provide a range of evidence-based treatment approaches (CBT, EMDR, psychology, psychiatry, and DBT) for children and young people (0–18 years), collaborating closely with partner agencies.
Our service delivers therapy, assessments, and support to children, young people, and their families experiencing moderate to severe emotional and mental health difficulties. Experience in working with this age group and mental health challenges is essential for this role.
About the Role
As a Senior CYPMH Practitioner, your responsibilities include:
- Conducting triage assessments, diagnostic evaluations and risk assessments
- Developing formulations forcomplex mental health presentations
- Delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions (targeting trauma, CBT, EMDR, DBT)
- Working with families and multi-agency teams
- Provide direct support and signposting where needed

Requirements
- Essential:
- Qualified practitioner in mental health or child and family therapy
- Experience of working with children and young people experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties
- Ability to deliver CBT, DBT and trauma-focused interventions
- Knowledge of formulation-based practice and risk assessment
- Desirable:
- Experience in Nova-style services or similar settings
- Familiarity with IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) principles
The Opportunity

- Working Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday Bases are in Barrow-in-Furness and Kendal, with travel required across South Cumbria.
