Senior Data Analyst | Last Mile | Hybrid Working | Hatfield (2 days in the office)

About the Role:

As a Last Mile Senior Analyst in the Global Technology Services (GTS) Analytics team, you'll use data to transform final-stage order fulfilment across the Ocado Smart Platform. Based in Hatfield, you'll deliver insights that improve delivery efficiency, customer satisfaction, and partner performance, with a focus on network planning, resource strategy, and routing optimisation.

Working across technology, operations, and international partners, you'll lead high-impact analytics projects, influence strategic decisions, and help drive lower costs and reduced carbon emissions. You'll also champion data best practices and mentor colleagues, combining technical expertise with leadership to shape the future of last-mile operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the strategic roadmap for last-mile analytics, ensuring alignment with broader organisational goals and industry trends.
  • Partner with Last Mile leadership to develop data-driven strategies for route optimisation, network planning, and customer experience.
  • Build advanced forecasting and optimisation models to improve delivery efficiency, routing, and capacity utilisation.
  • Apply statistical methods and machine learning techniques to uncover actionable insights from complex delivery and customer datasets.
  • Track, analyse, and report on performance trends to identify operational bottlenecks and drive cost-saving initiatives.
  • Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards and self-service tools using Looker to provide stakeholders with real-time performance insights.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to integrate analytics solutions into operational workflows and inform platform enhancements.
  • Provide strategic guidance and actionable insights to international partners and strategy planners across the globe.
  • Mentor, coach, and provide constructive feedback to team members, championing analytical best practices and supporting career development.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with a passion for driving the implementation of recommendations that deliver measurable results.
  • Technical proficiency in SQL and BigQuery.
  • Programming experience with Python or R is beneficial.
  • Proven experience creating data visualisations and dashboards using tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Looker Studio.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and statistical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.
  • Hands-on experience utilising AI tools to accelerate and enhance analytics workflows, from initial data exploration through to insight generation.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience applying geospatial analytics and location-based data to optimise delivery networks, routing, and operational decision-making.
  • Experience in last-mile logistics, home delivery, network strategy, or retail/eCommerce fulfillment operations.
  • Experience in last-mile logistics and network planning, including holistic operational cost-to-serve modeling.
  • An understanding of eCommerce customer behavior and key operational metrics such as drop densities and on-time delivery rates.
  • Professional experience within a consulting or advisory role, bringing structured problem-solving to projects with varied stakeholders.
  • A proven track record of working closely with external partners to deploy and operationalise data solutions at scale.
