About the job
Every week, millions of users interact with the Autotrader online marketplace. Our consumer experience isn’t just about finding a vehicle—it’s a multi-faceted journey that allows users to research, refine, and purchase in one place.
We’re seeking a Senior Data Analyst with expertise in consumer product journeys to help shape and refine our consumer-focused products.
As a Senior Data Analyst, you’ll take a leadership role within one of our consumer product teams, which covers key areas such as Search, Selling, CRM, and Marketing. Collaboration is at the heart of our work—you’ll engage closely with engineers, designers, and product leads in this cross-disciplinary environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Establishing metrics and key performance indicators for your product area using robust frameworks, ensuring measurement transparency while aligning definitions with other Data Analyst teams
- Leading the design of data products and collaborating with engineers to execute their implementation
- Defining and continuously improving tracking mechanisms to ensure accurate measurement of user behaviour and product performance
- Owning A/B testing outputs and partnering with Design and User Research during early-stage ideation
- Working with senior stakeholders to evaluate product changes and identify opportunities, using data-driven insights to influence decisions
- Leading your Data Analytics team, championing Analytics practices, and mentoring analysts within the wider group
- Planning and prioritising analytical components of projects, ensuring clear alignment with Analytics leadership and supporting team needs

Additionally, as a key member of the analytics community, you’ll:
- Embed Growth and Product Analytics principles, promoting an evidence-led culture through initiatives such as training, workshops, and framework development
- Share best practices across the organisation, fostering scalable and consistent analytics strategies
What we're looking for
We’re seeking a passionate Senior Data Analyst with:
- Proven experience in consumer product teams, alongside a robust understanding of analytic approaches across the entire consumer journey lifecycle
- Knowledge in overseeing experimentation programmes and using data to inform product or business decisions
- Strong grasp of statistical inference (Bayesian, Frequentist methods) and familiarity with predictive analytics techniques
- Comfortable with analytics tools for user behaviour tracking, such as Google Analytics (or equivalents)
- Ability to interpret complex analysis and effectively communicate conclusions to stakeholders
- Experience in project planning and delivery within a cross-functional environment
- Experience mentoring and leading analysts toward collective success
- Proficiency in SQL and Python, including ETL processes and a foundational understanding of data engineering principles

This role offers:
- £50,000 – £70,000 per year salary, plus 10% of your salary in annual share awards—vesting over three years, with the option to sell or retain
