Senior Data Analyst Position

About the Role
The Senior Data Analyst plays a key role in delivering the University’s Data Strategy to 2030 and beyond by providing high-quality insight to support strategic decision-making and performance improvement.
The role has a primary focus on Estates, leading the development of data-driven insight to inform:
- Estate planning
- Utilisation strategies
- Sustainability initiatives
- Operational performance
While the post must lead data-driven estate analysis, the incumbent will also contribute to analytical work across the wider University.
Key Responsibilities
Working as part of the Business Intelligence & Insight team, the Senior Data Analyst will:
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of analytical products to:
- Generate actionable insights for institutional and estates strategic planning
- Track performance indicators across key metrics
- Identify opportunities to tackle complex challenges facing the University
- Drive data quality improvements, ensuring robust foundation for evidence-based decisions
- Collaborate with faculty, estates, and operational teams to translate organisational objectives into measurable analytics
- Ensure compliance with data governance and ethical standards

Work Arrangement & Location
- Full-time role with reduced hours available for suitable applicants
- Hybrid working option, with a requirement to be in Portsmouth a few days per week

Accountability
This position reports to the Head of Business Intelligence & Insight and sits within the Academic Services division.

Salary & Responsibilities
- Positions routinely start at the entry salary for the advertised grade, progressing through the pay range over time with cost-of-living increases
- Where exceptional circumstances and experience justify it, a higher salary or market supplement may be offered
