Data Architect (Contract)

Status - Outside IR35.

Duration - 6 Months (Initial).

Locations - London

Working Pattern - 2 days per week in the office.

Security Clearance - Must be SC Cleared or able to be cleared


We have recently partnered with a leading consultancy seeking contract Senior Data Architects for several migration projects from legacy platforms to modern cloud data platforms.

We are hiring for senior-level Data Architects for high-profile public-sector projects. This is an opportunity to lead technical strategy for large-scale "legacy-to-new" migrations, moving from on-premises environments to modern cloud architectures.

You will be responsible for:

  • Designing and implementing architectures across diverse cloud-native stacks.
  • Working on various projects migrating from legacy on-prem architecture to modern cloud-based architecture.
  • Experience delivering complex migrations, ideally AWS, Redshift Spectrum, S3, Glue, etc.
  • Deep application of Lakehouse architectures, focusing on cost-optimisation through strategic data.
  • Communicating with senior stakeholders within their clients through the engagement.

  • Previously worked within a consultancy environment or a diverse range of contracts within enterprise businesses or public sector bodies.
  • Proven experience designing and evolving data solutions that align with long-term strategy and organisational maturity.
  • Deep understanding of Data Lakes, Data Mesh, Data Fabric, and Modern Data Warehousing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with Security, Data Governance, and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to clearly explain complex architectural concepts to non-technical audiences and C-suite stakeholders.
  • Able to identify and implement technical solutions that directly solve specific business problems.
  • The ability to work effectively with Data Engineers and Development teams.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of data governance, legal requirements, and data security standards.
  • Familiarity with adjacent areas such as Containerisation, Digital Services, and cloud security.
