Data Architect — Microsoft Fabric & Azure | Public Sector | Contract | £850 per day Inside IR35
Clearance: Must be eligible for NHS / UK Government security clearance
Location: Remote with occasional travel to London, Newcastle, or Manchester
Duration: 18 months initial, potential extension to 36 months
We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to support the delivery of an enterprise data warehouse programme for a UK public sector health research organisation.
You will be responsible for extending an existing Microsoft Fabric Data Warehouse built on Azure, expanding reporting capability across approximately 40 additional user stories and delivering a scalable, secure, production-ready analytics platform

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural design and extension of an existing Kimball dimensional data warehouse built on Microsoft Fabric
- Define and implement data models, fact and dimension tables, and ETL/ELT pipelines within the Azure environment
- Ensure the solution meets UK Government Functional Standard GovS 010: Analysis and GDS Accessibility Standards
- Work collaboratively with client subject matter experts to validate and refine reporting requirements
- Deploy and manage solutions across DEV, TEST and PROD environments
- Provide technical leadership and knowledge transfer to client teams
Essential Experience

- Proven experience delivering enterprise data warehouse solutions using Microsoft Fabric on Azure
- Strong Kimball dimensional modelling experience
- Experience working with both structured and unstructured data
- Delivery within UK public sector or highly regulated environments
- Familiarity with UK Government data and analysis standards
- Agile delivery experience within complex programme environments
Desirable
- Prior experience within NHS, health research, or clinical data environments
- Experience extending existing data warehouse solutions rather than greenfield builds
- Azure infrastructure provisioning and governance experience
