Senior Data Engineer
Senior Data Engineer
Prolific is not just another player in the AI space – we are the architects of the human data infrastructure that's reshaping the landscape of AI development. In a world where foundational AI technologies are increasingly commoditized, it's the quality and diversity of human-generated data that truly differentiates products and models.
The Role
We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help build scalable data solutions that serve teams across the business – from data scientists and analysts to AI engineers and product teams. You’ll contribute to both the underlying platform and the way data is used in our products, working in a modern, cloud-native environment where privacy, security, and good data practices are core to how we build.
What You’ll Bring
Technical Expertise
- 3+ years’ experience building and shipping production-grade data systems
- Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python (or another object-oriented language, such as Java, Scala, etc.)
- Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure, including exposure to:
- Terraform
- Kubernetes, or similar Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and container orchestration tools
- Experience designing data APIs or services that expose data to applications, or a keen interest in bridging analytical and operational systems
- A thoughtful approach to data quality, privacy, and security – you understand that how data is used is as important as how it’s moved
Soft Skills & Mindset
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across teams with differing priorities (e.g., engineers, data scientists, AI engineers, product teams)
- Pragmatic, curious mindset: comfortable keeping up with industry trends and deciding when to adopt new tools and when to stick with proven solutions
- Pipeline Management: Hands-on experience with tools like Airflow, dbt, and the ability to optimize pipelines for performance and reliability
- Quality Focus: Deep commitment to improving product quality, security, and performance through rigorous testing and code reviews
- Documentation: Meticulous attention to creating and maintaining architecture and systems documentation
- Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical skills for troubleshooting complex data challenges
- Independence: Ability to ship medium-sized features independently, while contributing to the team’s broader objectives

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
