Senior Data Engineer
Senior Data Engineer – 2 days per week in Manchester

This global technology business has just completed a massive migration to their own proprietary platform, setting the stage for scale, innovation, and speed. Products are being developed swiftly, technology is unlocking new capabilities, and global customer experiences are now next-level.
They’re recruiting a Senior Data Engineer to lead the evolution of their data platform, driving innovation and delivering high-quality data solutions across the business. This role is pivotal in migrating their current SQL Server data warehouse to a modern AWS-based ecosystem, while developing state-of-the-art real-time data solutions to support automation and business intelligence.
What you’ll do
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes using AWS technologies such as:
- AWS Glue
- AWS Lambda
- Amazon S3
- Amazon Redshift
- EMR
- Take a key part in migrating their legacy SQL Server data warehouse to a cutting-edge AWS-based architecture
- Develop data quality frameworks, validation processes, and monitoring solutions to ensure data accuracy and reliability
- Design and implement data lakehouse and data warehousing solutions that support current and future business needs
- Collaborate with Data Scientists, Analysts, and stakeholders to deliver actionable data products that drive business impact
- Drive continuous improvement by adopting emerging technologies and industry best practices
- Mentor junior engineers and foster the growth of the Data Engineering function

Who you are
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS services, including:
- Glue, Lambda, S3, Redshift, and EMR
- Proficient in Python and SQL
- A track record of designing and building data pipelines and ETL solutions
- Deep understanding of data warehousing principles and modern data architecture patterns
- Experience with pipeline orchestration and workflow management tools
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to bridge technical and business audiences
- Experience supporting or leading the migration of data platforms from on-premises to cloud environments (greatly desired)
