Senior Data Engineer

Manchester, 2 days per week

This global technology business has just completed a massive migration to their own platform, and now, the stage is set for scale, innovation, and speed. Products are being built at pace, technology is unlocking new capabilities, and the experiences delivered to customers worldwide are next-level.

They're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to play a key role in the evolution of their data platform, driving innovation and delivering high-quality data solutions across the business. This role will be instrumental in migrating their existing data warehouse to a modern AWS-based ecosystem while developing cutting-edge real-time data solutions that support automation and business intelligence.

What you'll do:

  • Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes using AWS technologies such as Glue, Lambda, S3, and Redshift.
  • Playing a key role in the migration of their existing SQL Server data warehouse to a modern AWS-based architecture.
  • Developing data quality frameworks, validation processes, and monitoring solutions to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Design and implement data lakehouse and data warehousing solutions that support current and future business needs.
  • Work closely with Data Scientists, Analysts, and other stakeholders to deliver data products that drive business value.
  • Drive continuous improvement by adopting emerging technologies and industry best practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support the wider development of the Data Engineering function.

Who you are:

  • Strong hands on experience with AWS services including Glue, Lambda, S3, Redshift, and EMR.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Proven experience designing and building data pipelines and ETL solutions.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing principles and modern data architecture patterns.
  • Experience with pipeline orchestration and workflow management tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience supporting or delivering the migration of data platforms from on-premises environments to cloud-based infrastructure is highly desirable.
