Senior Data Engineer
£500 per day | Inside IR35 Initial 3-month contract | Morpeth, Northumberland (once per fortnight onsite) BPSS clearance required | ASAP start available
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to support a key public sector data transformation programme. This role is ideal for a Microsoft Fabric-focused professional with strong Azure expertise and recent cross-cloud experience, particularly with AWS.
The Senior Data Engineer will design and build data integration, transformation, and visualisation solutions, ensuring operational insight and analysis for channel shift initiatives.
As part of an agile delivery team, your responsibilities will include:
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimise data pipelines within Microsoft Fabric, adhering to bronze, silver, and gold layer architecture.
- Implement data matching and quality rules while optimising Lakehouse and semantic models.
- Develop Power BI reports to provide actionable insights.
- Integrate data from diverse systems, including contact centre platforms (AWS Connect or similar), CRM, and line-of-business applications.
- Engage with stakeholders—technical and non-technical—to define requirements and deliver value-driven insights.

Essential Skills & Experience
Required qualifications: ✔ 7+ years as a Data Engineer ✔ Expertise in Microsoft Fabric and Azure data engineering ✔ AWS cross-cloud exposure (preferably recent) ✔ Experience designing bronze, silver, and gold data pipelines ✔ Lakehouse and semantic model optimisation proficiency ✔ Power BI dashboard and reporting expertise ✔ Hands-on experience with CRM, contact centre, and LOB integrations ✔ Strong skills in data quality, matching, and transformation ✔ Agile delivery experience ✔ Ability to provide technical leadership and mentor junior members ✔ Proven stakeholder management capabilities

Contract Terms
- Rate: £500 per day
- Engagement: Inside IR35
- Duration: Initial 3-month contract (extensible)
- Location: Onsite in Morpeth, Northumberland (once per fortnight)
- Clearance: BPSS required
- Start: ASAP
