We’re working with an early-stage, well-funded tech-led start-up. They’re looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer to take ownership of their growing platform and help scale it as the business expands globally.
What You’ll Be Doing
This is a key hire for the business, with real ownership from day one and scope to grow into a broader leadership role as the company scales; You’ll sit at the centre of a highly technical team of scientists and engineers, taking ownership of a growing data platform and evolving it as the business scales. This is a hands-on role where you’ll build, improve and own pipelines, internal tools and platform services end-to-end.

As Senior Data Platform Engineer, you’ll take full ownership of the existing data platform and evolve it as the business grows. You’ll work across backend services, cloud infrastructure, and internal tools. A big part of the role is turning experimental workflows and scripts into reliable, production-ready systems that scientists can trust and use daily.
You’ll manage and extend a GCP-first platform, working with tools like BigQuery, Airflow, dbt, and and so much more. Sound like you?
What Experience You’ll Need to Apply
- Strong Data Engineering experience in a cloud environment
- Hands-on experience with GCP (& BigQuery)
- Experience building data pipelines (Airflow, dbt or similar)
- Strong Python skills (production pipelines or backend work)
- Solid SQL and data modelling

Nice to Have:
- Terraform or infrastructure exposure
- Experience building internal tools or working cross-functionally
- Comfortable working in a start-up or scaling environment is a bonus
- Bonus points if you’ve worked with React, FastAPI, or in scientific or energy domains
What You’ll Get in Return
The role offers a salary of up to £100,000 DOE, alongside equity in a growing business with long-term ambition. You’ll be joining at a key stage, with strong recent funding and a clear path towards further investment. You’ll be required to go into the London office three times per week.
