Senior Data Engineer
Job Description: GCP Data Engineer
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled GCP Data Engineer to support large-scale cloud and data transformation programmes within enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will have experience working in large organisations, delivering data engineering and migration solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
The role will focus on building and supporting:
- Scalable data pipelines
- Cloud-native orchestration
- Modern DevOps/DataOps practices, across complex enterprise landscapes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines on GCP
- Conduct data migration, including cloud-to-cloud and on-prem to GCP
- Support enterprise-wide data migration and cloud transformation initiatives
- Build and manage ETL/ELT workflows using GCP native services
- Develop orchestration workflows using Cloud Composer (Airflow)
- Utilise Dataproc and Dataflow for large-scale data processing
- Deploy and manage containerised workloads using Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins
- Work within GitOps-based delivery and deployment processes
- Collaborate with architects, analysts, platform teams, and business stakeholders
- Ensure solutions adhere to security, governance, and operational best practices
- Troubleshoot and optimise the performance of cloud data platforms
- Support production deployments while maintaining operational stability

Required Skills
(Essential)
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Proven expertise in enterprise-scale data migration projects
- Proficiency with:
- Cloud Composer (Airflow)
- Dataproc
- Dataflow
- BigQuery
- (Nice-to-have): Data Fusion / CDAP
- Experience with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)
- Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines (including Jenkins)
- Knowledge of GitOps processes and deployment practices
- Experience working in large, complex organisations
- Strong foundation in SQL and data engineering principles
- Experience in Agile delivery environments
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills

(Desirable)
- Expertise with Terraform / Infrastructure as Code
- Python or Scala development experience
- Hands-on experience with Kafka or streaming platforms
- Understanding of data governance and security controls
- Exposure to multi-cloud environments
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tooling

Hybrid remote in London
