Senior Data Engineer | Greenfield Data Warehouse | Remote
Marks Sattin is partnering with a growing SME in the e-commerce and retail technology sector that is investing heavily in data as a key enabler of future growth. As part of this journey, they are building a brand-new data function and are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to help shape, design, and deliver a modern data platform from the ground up.
This is a genuine greenfield opportunity to build an Azure-based data platform from scratch and play a pivotal role in a rapidly growing, highly profitable organisation. Working closely with senior leadership, you'll have the autonomy to influence the data strategy and make a tangible impact from day one.

Role Responsibilities
- Design and build a modern Azure-based data platform, including data lake architecture, ingestion pipelines, data modelling, and transformation processes.
- Lead data engineering initiatives across the organisation, ensuring successful and timely project delivery.
- Develop and automate data ingestion from ERP, CRM, bespoke operational systems, and high-volume transactional data sources.
- Lead the implementation and adoption of Microsoft Fabric.
- Support the development of advanced analytics use cases, including dynamic pricing, operational optimisation, and business intelligence solutions.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience working as a Data Engineer in a commercial environment.
- Demonstrable experience designing and implementing Azure-hosted data warehouse solutions from scratch within a greenfield setting.
- Strong expertise in SQL, Python, ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing, and data modelling.
- Experience integrating multiple business systems into a centralised data platform.
- Exposure to ERP, CRM, e-commerce, or retail environments.
- Hands-on experience implementing and deploying Microsoft Fabric solutions.
- Ability to work independently and influence technical direction within a growing business.
