Senior Data Engineer – Geoscience Data & AI
Location: UK, although Europe wide might be considered for the right candidate
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 6 months+
Role Overview
Our client is expanding its digital, data and AI capability within geoscience and is looking for a senior-level Data Engineer to help build and operate their geoscience data backbone. The role focuses on transforming drillhole, geochemistry, imagery, geophysics, and remote sensing datasets into trusted, governed data products using modern cloud, data, and AI platforms.

- Databricks (PySpark, Delta Lake, UC)
- Azure Data Factory
- SQL (Strong analytical SQL, data modelling, window functions, CTEs, performance optimisation)
- Python (Git, pull requests, code reviews, structured development practices)
- CI/CD (Azure DevOps)
- Software engineering best practice
- Data pipeline testing
- Documentation & Maintainability
Strongly Preferred
- AI-assisted development (GitHub Copilot)
- Databricks AI capabilities (Awareness of AI Functions, Genie, AI/BI Dashboards, Mosaic AI or similar capabilities)
- Terraform/Bicep/DABs
- Prompt engineering
