Role Title: Senior Data Modeller
BU/Segment: Analytics / Data Management / Insurance
Location: London, United Kingdom (Hybrid working)

As a Senior Data Modeller, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise data models that enable analytics, reporting, AI, machine learning, and business intelligence initiatives. You will translate complex business requirements into scalable, high-quality data solutions, ensuring data is structured, governed, and optimized for performance across the organization.
You will be responsible for developing conceptual, logical, and physical data models, defining source-to-target mappings, and supporting the implementation of relational and NoSQL database solutions, operational data stores (ODS), data marts, and data lakes. Working closely with business and technical stakeholders, you will ensure data architecture aligns with enterprise standards, governance frameworks, and best practices.
You will also drive improvements to existing data architecture, optimize data performance, and contribute to the definition of data modelling standards, automation, and testing strategies. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams.

As part of your duties, you will be responsible for:
- Translate business requirements into scalable data models that support long-term business and technology objectives.
- Design, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models using industry best practices to ensure data quality, consistency, and minimal redundancy.
- Partner with application development, architecture, and business teams to define data strategies, data flows, and source-to-target mappings.
- Develop and maintain metadata, data dictionaries, and documentation to support enterprise data governance.
- Optimize and enhance existing data models to support new business initiatives and improve performance.
- Define and promote data modelling standards, naming conventions, and best practices across projects.
- Identify opportunities to reuse existing data models and data assets to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Perform reverse engineering of existing databases and SQL scripts to produce accurate data models and documentation.
- Assess logical and physical data models for quality, integrity, performance, and alignment with business requirements.
- Validate business data entities and ensure data models accurately reflect business processes and information requirements.
- Analyze data integration challenges and recommend scalable, efficient solutions across multiple systems.
- Provide technical guidance to Business Analysts, Developers, Engineers, and Solution Architects on data modelling, database design, and integration approaches.
- Review application and database designs, recommending improvements to enhance scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of enterprise data architecture, including data movement strategies, technology direction, and governance frameworks.
- Ensure all data architecture deliverables comply with enterprise standards, policies, and best practices.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, business stakeholders, technical teams, and clients to provide expert guidance on all aspects of data architecture, modelling, and data management throughout the project lifecycle.

Experience and Education required:
- 7-10 Years industry implementation experience with one or more data modelling tools such as Erwin, ERStudio, Power Designer, etc.
- Minimum of 8 years of data architecture, data modelling, or similar experience.
- 5-7 years of management experience required.
- 5-7 years consulting experience preferred.
- Experience working with dimensionally modelled data.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, Master’s Degree Preferred.
- Understanding of cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP, Snowflake preferred) and on-premises architectures.
- Experience in data analysis and profiling.
- Strong data warehousing and OLTP systems from an integration perspective.
- Strong understanding of data integration best practices and concepts.
- Strong SQL skills required, scripting preferred.
- Strong Knowledge of all phases of the system development life cycle.
- Experience with major database and big data platforms (e.g., RDS, Aurora, Redshift, Databricks, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Hadoop, Snowflake, etc.).
- Understanding and experience with major Data Architecture philosophies (Dimensional, ODS, Data Vault, etc.).
- Understanding of modern data warehouse capabilities and technologies such as real-time, cloud, Big Data.
Preferred Skills & Experience
We are looking for candidates with experience in the following:
- Extensive experience in enterprise data modelling, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Strong understanding of data architecture principles, data governance, and enterprise data management best practices.
- Experience translating business requirements into scalable data models and technical design documentation.
- Proven experience analyzing business processes and designing data models to support reporting, analytics, and operational systems.
- Strong data profiling, data analysis, data quality, and data mapping experience, including source-to-target mapping and legacy data migration.
- Experience designing and implementing data models for data warehouses, data lakes, operational data stores (ODS), and data marts.
- Experience reverse engineering existing databases and optimizing logical and physical data models.
- Strong SQL skills with experience writing complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
- Experience working with relational databases and modern NoSQL platforms.
- Knowledge of ETL processes, data integration, and data transformation techniques.
- Experience defining enterprise data standards, metadata management, and naming conventions.
- Experience documenting data architecture, business rules, data dictionaries, and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with UML and business process modelling techniques.
- Experience facilitating workshops, Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions, and collaborating with business and technical stakeholders.
- Ability to mentor junior team members and promote data modelling best practices across delivery teams.
- Experience supporting testing activities, including data validation, reconciliation, and data quality assurance.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
