Senior Data Privacy Consultant

Location: London
Working Model: Hybrid
Salary: £55,000 - £75,000 + 15% bonus

About the Role

We are seeking a Data Privacy Consultant to join a growing team that helps organisations navigate complex data protection, privacy, and information governance challenges. You will work with clients across a range of sectors to develop pragmatic privacy solutions, ensure regulatory compliance, and build trust through effective data governance. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects involving privacy strategy, regulatory compliance, risk management, and emerging technologies in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on data protection and privacy regulations, including UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, EU GDPR, and other relevant legislation.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments (DPIAs) and support privacy risk assessments.
  • Develop and implement privacy frameworks, policies, standards, and governance models.
  • Review business processes and technology solutions to identify privacy risks and recommend practical controls.
  • Support clients in responding to data subject rights requests, personal data breaches, and regulatory enquiries.
  • Contribute to privacy-by-design initiatives across digital transformation, cloud, AI, and data programmes.
  • Deliver workshops and training to improve organisational awareness of data protection obligations.
  • Collaborate with legal, cyber security, risk, and technology teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Stay informed of evolving privacy legislation, regulatory guidance, and industry best practices.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Experience delivering data privacy or information governance projects in a consulting, advisory, or in-house environment.
  • Strong understanding of UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and broader data protection principles.
  • Experience conducting DPIAs, data mapping, and privacy risk assessments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience developing policies, procedures, and governance documentation.

Desirable:

  • Professional certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 27701, ISO/IEC 27001, or other information governance frameworks.
  • Experience with AI governance, cloud technologies, or digital transformation programmes.
  • Familiarity with privacy management tools and data governance platforms.
