Senior Data Scientist

Up to £80,000 + benefits | Hybrid, 2-3 days | London

Most data science roles inherit someone else's mess. Ageing pipelines, half-finished notebooks, models nobody trusts. This one starts differently.

A global entertainment business is building its data science capability from scratch, and the person who joins now gets to define how that function operates, what it builds, and how it scales.

The mandate is commercial and specific: build predictive models that drive customer acquisition and retention. Not dashboards. Not reports. Actual models, built and owned end to end, that measurably influence how the business grows.

You'll work across marketing, pricing and demand forecasting, tackling problems where the data is large, the decisions are high-stakes and the upside of getting it right is visible at company level. You'll design and deploy solutions in Python, SQL and Spark SQL, working across Azure Synapse, Snowflake, Databricks and Azure ML. The environment is modern and evolving. You'll help shape what good looks like before convention sets in.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The role sits at a genuine intersection of technical depth and commercial influence. You'll partner with Growth, Strategy and Technology teams to embed models into operational systems — and you'll be expected to translate what you build into clear, credible narratives for senior stakeholders who don't speak Python.

This is a builder role, not a consultant role. The expectation is ownership.

You'll enjoy this if you:

  • Want to build models from scratch, not maintain someone else's
  • Care about commercial outcomes, not just technical elegance
  • Can move between deep modelling work and stakeholder communication without losing a step
  • Are confident working with large, distributed datasets at scale
  • Have strong instincts on ML, optimisation and segmentation
  • Take data governance and ethical AI seriously, not as an afterthought
