Senior Data Scientist – Data Team
About the Role We’re looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our Data Team, helping us provide actionable insights and build data-driven solutions to propel our business forward. Your work will shape organisational strategy, enhance product development, and unlock growth opportunities.

Yoto’s Data Team
Small but dynamic, we’re at the heart of strategic decision-making. Here, independence, trust, and collaboration allow everyone to drive impactful projects—from cutting-edge AI/ML systems to Data orchestration pipelines and experimentation frameworks. Our work spans:
- Data engineering for scalable solutions.

You’ll work cross-functionally with product, commerce, and engineering, leveraging data to inspire action.
Key Responsibilities
To excel in this role, you’ll:
Strategic Impact & Experimentation
- Partner with product and commercial teams to understand customer behaviour and convert insights into high-impact decisions, directly influencing roadmaps.
- Build and reinforce experimentation frameworks to systematically test hypotheses, prioritising velocity and confidence in outcomes.
- Develop causal inference methods to evaluate feature performance and growth projects, clarifying limitations and uncertainties transparently.

Metrics & Decision Making
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) tied to business objectives, ensuring clarity in what each metric measures—and what it doesn’t.
- Translate complex findings into actionable narratives for non-technical stakeholders while empowering engineers to make analysis-backed choices.
AI & Modern Tooling
- Work closely with LLM-based solutions, helping stakeholders harness their full potential and interpret outputs with nuance.
- Apply statistical rigor and probabilistic reasoning to navigate ambiguity in data, advising on risks and opportunities.
Technical & Collaborative Leadership
- Balance priorities across senior stakeholders, exercising judgment to focus effort where it drives the most impact.
- Mentor and guide data-driven decisions across projects—shaping the future of how Yoto uses data.
What You’ll Bring
Essential Qualifications
- Senior Data Scientist title or equivalent, with a track record of leading data-informed decision-making—upskilling teams or shaping company strategy.
- Practical experience in:
- Statistics and causal inference (e.g., A/B testing, instrumental variables, propensity scoring).
- Modern data tooling (GCP/AWS cloud platforms, Snowflake for storage/query, SQL and Python).
- Experimentation frameworks and metrics-driven development.
- Strategic mind adept at prioritising projects among stakeholders, acting as a bridge between technical realities and business goals.
Soft Skills & Mindset
- Passion for clarity: Ability to articulate uncertain findings and explain risks.
- Agile adaptability: Comfort with ambiguity and commitment to iterating.
- Collaborative leadership: Drive decisions without hierarchy, influencing peers and leaders alike.
Salary
