Senior Data Scientist

New Permanent Opportunity for a DV Cleared Senior Data Scientist

Location: Cheltenham

Employer: Leading National Security and Defence Consultancy Client

Type: Permanent Role

Reference: DoE + up to £85k, plus bonuses and benefits

Core Responsibilities (3 days on site per week)

  • Apply creative data science and machine learning techniques to solve complex problems.
  • Innovate and research solutions, staying current with advancing technologies in ML and data systems.
  • Engage in the entire data science lifecycle—from problem definition to deployment.
  • Document findings clearly and deliver high-quality technical outputs.
  • Translate AI/ML findings into practical client solutions.
  • Contribute to proposal crafting, client demonstrations, and pitch presentations.
  • Develop deeper expertise in Defence, Security, and AI-driven transformation.

Key Skills & Experience

Essential Requirements

✅ Active DV (Defence Vetting) Clearance required. ✅ Proven track record applying data science/ML to Defence/Security, public sector, or academia. ✅ Advanced cognisance of ML models and architectures. ✅ Methodical problem-solving and critical thinking skills. ✅ Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences. ✅ Strong client relationship management.

Desirable Attributes

🔹 Cloud expertise: AWS, Azure, or GCP environments. 🔹 Intimate knowledge of:

  • Python (data wrangling, ML, visualisation);
  • TensorFlow / PyTorch frameworks.
  • NLP and Computer Vision (cutting-edge methods). 🔹 Strong grasp of probability, ML lifecycle, and ethical AI. 🔹 Experience with ML workflows (e.g., Kubeflow, MLflow, Argo). 🔹 Experience publishing academic/industry papers or presenting research.
