Senior Data Scientist (AI-Powered Document Intelligence) – UK-Based

About the Role This exciting ** Senior Data Scientist** position is being managed by a partner company in the United Kingdom. The successful candidate will lead the development of an AI-powered document intelligence platform, specialising in extracting and structuring complex unstructured data—particularly in science, chemistry, or cheminformatics.

Line managers will work cross-functionally with software engineers, data engineers, and domain experts, leveraging Generative AI, LLMs, cloud technologies, and vector databases to revolutionise real-world data processing.

You’ll drive innovation, own end-to-end AI/ML pipelines, and deliver scalable solutions that transform unstructured documents into searchable, actionable knowledge.

Ideal for applicants who thrive on complex problem-solving, advanced technical ownership, and building cutting-edge AI systems—this role offers a short-term B2B contract with measurable impact in high-stakes industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Optimise AI Systems

    • Develop, optimise, and deploy advanced machine learning & deep learning models to extract meaningful insights from unstructured and scanned scientific PDFs, as well as complex data formats.
    • Focus on document intelligence, including OCR, computer vision, and NLP, to improve information structuring from the ground up.
  • Build & Integrate LLM-Based Solutions

    • Engineer LLM applications using vector databases (Pinecone, Milvus, Weaviate, Qdrant) and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) techniques.
    • Implement semantic search and intelligent document discovery via retrieval-augmented AI pipelines.
  • Full ML Lifecycle Ownership

    • Manage data preprocessing, feature engineering, modelling, validation, deployment, MLOps, and continuous optimisation (A/B testing, performance tuning, monitoring).
    • Partner with DevOps and data engineering teams to ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability of production systems.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
