- Salary Range:
- Edinburgh/Leeds: £53,800–£64,000 per annum
- London: £59,200–£70,000 per annum (based on skills and experience)
- Grade: Senior Associate – Regulatory

About The FCA and Team
We regulate financial services firms in the UK to ensure fair, thriving, and effective markets.
SPC (Supervision, Policy & Competition):
- Oversees firms and individuals (supervision)
- Creates/reviews rules (policy)
- Identifies and remedies ineffective competition in markets (competition)
Markets Directorates ensure fair, transparent, and resilient wholesale markets (including wholesale banks, intermediaries, asset managers, exchanges).
Role Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and build high-performance trading data pipelines, transforming millions of daily records into datasets for risk and market analysis
- Own and evolve interactive web apps and dashboards to deliver insights across equities, fixed income, commodities, and FX
- Conduct analyses on diverse financial market issues, supporting policy and supervisory teams with timely, informed decisions
- Use technical skills to tackle impactful challenges and shape how data inform firm supervision and market oversight

Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Requirements
- Demonstrable data engineering experience in financial markets
- Ability to design efficient SQL (Redshift) and Python ETL pipelines
- Expertise in feature engineering
- Experience developing user-friendly analytical products (e.g., dashboards, self-service tools, Streamlit apps)
- Proficiency with data analysis tools/libraries (focused on financial datasets)
Essential Qualifications
- Deep understanding of financial markets
- Experience applying machine learning techniques to market data
- Prior experience with scalable cloud-based solutions
- Capacity to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders

- Hybrid Work Model:
- Minimum 40% office-based per month (50% for senior leaders)
- Changing from September: Minimum 50% office-based per month (60% for Directors & Executive Directors)
