Job Title: Senior Data Scientist

Role Type: Contract Inside IR35

Working Model: London Hybrid (2–3 days per week in the office)

Duration: 5–6 Months

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join a high-impact transformation programme. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex business problems using advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI while working closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and architects.

As a senior technical authority within the Data Science capability, you will be responsible for defining analytical solutions, developing predictive models, ensuring technical excellence, and translating business challenges into scalable data science products.

During the initial phase of the programme, you will support both the existing data estate while contributing to the development of a modern, governed data platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hands-on Model Development & Deployment

    • Build and deploy predictive models and advanced analytics solutions for high-value business use cases.
    • Own the most complex and business-critical modelling initiatives.
    • Ensure model robustness, explainability, scalability, and production performance.
  • Requirement Definition

    • Define the datasets and features required for machine learning models.
    • Collaborate with Data Modellers to design semantic data structures.
    • Work closely with Data Engineering teams to ensure data pipelines meet modelling requirements.

  • Business Partnership

    • Translate business problems into analytical and machine learning solutions.
    • Challenge ambiguous requirements and drive clarity on business outcomes.
    • Communicate trade-offs between model complexity, data availability, and delivery timelines.
  • Quality & Governance

    • Establish best practices for model development, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
    • Implement peer reviews and coding standards.
    • Ensure ethical, responsible, and explainable AI practices.
  • Leadership & Mentoring

    • Mentor junior and mid-level Data Scientists.
    • Support capability development and knowledge sharing across the team.
    • Drive continuous improvement within the Data Science practice.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Partner with Data Modellers to define high-quality analytical datasets.
    • Work with Data Engineers to ensure production-ready data pipelines.
    • Collaborate with Delivery Leads on prioritisation and solution feasibility.

Required Skills & Experience

Essential Experience

  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in Data Science or Statistical Analysis.
  • Proven experience developing and deploying machine learning models into production.
  • Strong background in statistical modelling and predictive analytics.
  • Experience working with large-scale datasets and complex data structures.
  • Experience with distributed computing and cloud-based analytics platforms.
