Location

Existing CO staff can work in their original contractual work location.

Existing Civil Servants working in all other departments can work in Bristol, Glasgow, or London only.

External candidates can work in Bristol, Glasgow, or London only.

About the Job

Job Summary

Cabinet Office Digital is the central directorate that serves the end-users of the 40+ business units that reside within the Cabinet Office. We are dedicated to "Enable and Transform" the department through the provision of exemplary digital, data, and technology services, as well as driving the digital transformation of the organisation.

Part of our mission is to secure the Cabinet Office’s digital and information assets against misuse while enabling the secure delivery of the department’s mission. We achieve this by developing, operating, and governing the cyber and information security controls, safeguarding both our nationwide internal IT infrastructure and our high-profile citizen-facing digital services.


Responsibilities

As a Senior Delivery Manager, you will sit at the heart of the cyber security team and collaborate closely with the team, senior leadership, and Cabinet Office stakeholders to manage and coordinate delivery by:

  • Ensuring the team delivers against its mission and strategy through:
    • Tracking and reporting progress.
    • Unlocking blockers.
    • Maintaining project management tools.
  • Cultivating a motivating, diverse, inclusive, and supportive team culture, encouraging collaboration, and continuously improving ways of working.
  • Supporting people management, including:
    • Coordinating recruitment.
    • onboarding new joiners.
    • Delivering activities to foster and maintain collaboration.

Additional responsibilities include contributing to the team’s growth, efficiency, and effectiveness, such as:

  • Supporting financial and commercial management processes, including:
    • Coordination of annual and monthly budgeting.
    • Working with Finance Business Partners for financial reporting.
    • Collaborating with Commercial Managers for procurement activities.
  • Coordinating responses to:
    • Freedom of Information (FOI) requests.
    • parliamentary questions.
    • Information requests from other government departments (e.g., GSG).
  • Acting as an advocate for the team’s services, raising awareness of cyber security risks and promoting services that help manage this risk across the wider Cabinet Office.
  • Supporting key procurement activities within the Cyber function.
  • Coordinating JIRA dashboards across the function to assist with monthly reporting.
  • Providing administrative support for the Deputy Director.

Person Specification

To Succeed in This Role

  • Be proactive and excited by problem-solving.
  • Motivated to create a culture of collaboration within the team.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written), applicable across diverse stakeholders, including:
    • Customers.
    • Senior management.
    • Technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Confident in applying Agile delivery methodologies.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

  • An understanding and interest in cyber security and digital services.
  • Interest in Agile practices, actively seeking and implementing good delivery initiatives in alignment with wider Agile standards.
  • Knowledge of the Govassure process.
  • Knowledge of how Security Operation Centres (SOCs) function.

Additional Information

Cabinet Office policy mandates a minimum 60% attendance at the principal workplace. In some roles, this requirement may increase to 100% due to business needs or critical operational demands. Attendance at other sites for official business will also count towards this requirement.
