Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 per year
Required By: ASAP – flexible for the right candidate if notice is required

Position Brief
To manage and coordinate the delivery of design information across the business, ensuring that design programmes, resources, consultants, approvals and deliverables are effectively planned, monitored and controlled.
The Senior Design Coordinator is accountable for the operational management of the design process and acts as the primary coordinator of design activities across all projects.

The role is responsible for ensuring that design information is delivered on time, risks are managed, resources are effectively utilised and client expectations are achieved
Key Responsibilities
Design Delivery Management
- Manage design information across all live projects.
- Establish and maintain Information Release Schedules (IRS).
- Manage design programmes and design deliverables.
- Coordinate design resources across the business.
- Forecast future design resource requirements.
- Manage flow of information with internal and external design teams.
Design Team Management
- Coordinate workloads of internal designers.
- Monitor performance of external design consultants.
- Monitor design progress and productivity.
- Allocate design resources to projects.
- Identify and resolve resource conflicts.
Client and Consultant Management
- Lead internal and external design meetings.
- Coordinate façade consultants and specialist consultants.
- Coordinate structural engineering inputs.
- Coordinate thermal, acoustic and fire engineering inputs.
- Manage design approvals and technical submissions.
Design Governance
- Manage design risk registers.
- Manage design change control processes.
- Manage Gateway 2 information requirements.
- Manage Golden Thread records.
- Manage document control processes.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures.
Design Reporting
- Produce design KPI reports.
- Produce management reports.
- Report design performance to senior management.
- Monitor IRS compliance and programme performance.
Business Improvement
- Capture lessons learned.
- Improve design workflows.
- Improve design reporting systems.
- Improve coordination processes.
Key Skills
- Proven experience leading or managing design teams
- Strong communication and stakeholder management capability
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, pressure, and competing demands
- Commercial awareness of scope changes and variations
- Comfortable making decisions and being accountable for outcomes

Key Requirements
Experience:
Essential
- Experience managing design activities within construction projects in UK.
- Experience coordinating multiple design teams and project stakeholders.
- Strong programme management skills.
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Practical experience in design of building envelopes in UK using CAD or BIM software
- Strong knowledge of key building regulations, British standards, NHBC and other industry requirements applicable to the design and performance of facade systems in the UK.
Desirable
- Experience managing external consultants
- Building Safety Act and Gateway process experience.
- Technical coordination experience.
- High level design coordination or design management experience.
Practical Skills:
- Strong ability to plan, prioritise, and allocate design work strategically
- Capability to identify systemic bottlenecks and implement long-term solutions
- Commercial awareness of scope changes, variations, and programme impact
- Ability to personally oversee and monitor a live project when required
Leadership, Communication and Influence:
- Confident communicator with clients, senior stakeholders, and consultants
- Able to set direction, make decisions, and take accountability
- Strong people leadership skills, including performance management and development
- Able to balance delivery pressure with team wellbeing and quality
Education:
- Relevant degree or professional qualification in design, engineering, construction, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Nice to Have (Preferable but not required):
- Formal people management or leadership training
- Experience implementing or improving design processes and workflows
- Experience managing design close-out and post-completion issues
Schedule:
Probationary Period of 6 months
Monday – Friday
Working Hours are 8:00am – 5:00pm (with 30 min lunch break)
