Senior Temporary Works Design Engineer
Referment is partnering with a leading engineering and construction business to recruit a Senior Temporary Works Design Engineer to join a highly respected in-house design team, delivering complex structural, demolition, and heavy civil engineering projects across the UK.
This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving technically challenging construction problems, working closely with project delivery teams from tender stage through to installation on site.
You’ll play a key role in:
- Developing innovative temporary works solutions
- Leading design checks
- Supporting live projects
- Mentoring junior engineers within a collaborative engineering environment
The Role
You’ll Be Involved In
- Temporary works design and checking
- Formwork & falsework engineering
- Needling, propping & structural support systems
- Basement retention & excavation support
- Demolition sequencing & construction methodology
- Tower crane foundations and grillages
- Existing structure appraisals
- Value engineering during pre-construction
- Technical support to project and site teams
- Reviewing external consultant designs
- Site inspections and constructability assessments

You’ll work alongside senior engineering and operational teams on technically demanding projects where engineering excellence drives project success.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking experienced engineers with:
- Strong experience in temporary works and structural engineering
- Background in construction, demolition, heavy civils, or specialist engineering
- Experience producing and checking calculations and technical reports
- Understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and technical drafting
- Ability to communicate confidently with project teams and clients
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
