Hays Engineering are delighted to be partnering with a leading specialist machinery manufacturer based in Co. Armagh. This innovative and forward-thinking organisation designs and builds high-performance equipment for global markets and is recognised for its investment in cutting-edge technology and product development.
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of new projects, the company is seeking to appoint a Senior Design Engineer to play a pivotal role in advancing its next generation of products.
Your new role
As a Senior Design Engineer, you will take a lead role in R&D and new product development, working from concept through to production. You will be responsible for driving innovation, improving existing designs, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions aligned with customer and market requirements.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading R&D activities focused on new product development and innovation
- Designing and developing mechanical systems and components using 3D CAD (e.g. SolidWorks)
- Conducting feasibility studies, prototyping, and product testing
- Enhancing existing machinery designs for performance, reliability, and manufacturability
- Performing engineering analysis and validation of designs
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, electrical, and procurement
- Supporting projects from concept through to production and market release
- Producing and maintaining detailed engineering documentation

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Significant experience in design engineering within a machinery or manufacturing environment
- Strong background in R&D and new product development
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks)
- Experience with prototyping, testing, and design validation
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and leadership abilities
- A proactive and innovative approach to engineering challenges
