Senior Design Engineer
Senior Design Engineer – Automotive / Specialist Vehicle
Ideally from an specialist vehicle background, you will design and provide accurate, detailed, and timely 3D SolidWorks models and manufacturing drawings.
You will join a leading automotive company with over 200 onsite employees based in Doncaster.
### About the Role
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:
- Take ownership of the design and CAD aspects of allocated projects, ensuring drawings and information are provided to deadlines.
- Design, develop, and prototype new products while adhering to the company Product Development Process (PDP) requirements.
- Participate in project launch meetings and interpret client requirements effectively.

### Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to align with quality and cost initiatives.
- Provide technical support for customers.
- Liaise with manufacturing representatives to establish project priorities and requirements.
- Lead Contract Design Reviews and take ownership of decision-making.
- Incorporate design considerations for cost, manufacturing methods, and manual handling.
- Ensure products comply with body builder guidelines and current legislation.
- Generate Bills of Materials (BOM) and Cutting Lists.
- Create and implement Standard Operating Procedures for Mechanical Design.
- Develop and run CNC programmes as needed.
- Maintain drawing control procedures.
- Develop and promote continuous improvement in design and processes.
- Conduct Product Risk Assessments when required.
- Support and mentor junior team members.

### Key Requirements
- Strong SolidWorks expertise as an experienced CAD operator.
- HNC qualification in an Engineering or CAD Draughting discipline.
