About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Design Engineer based in Raynesway (Derby). In this role, you will design technical solutions for waste network facilities, providing inputs from optioneering through to outline design, detailed design, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover. You’ll work on exciting new complex projects and be a mentor for your peers. In addition, you will work closely with our Project Managers to define the right contractual outputs to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • High level appraisal and optioneering of conceptual designs to create innovative and efficient TOTEX solutions for wastewater infrastructure assets which resolve the business problem (liaising with appropriate internal and external experts, ensuring design standards and assurance processes are followed)
  • Undertake early pro-active risk management and ensuring risk registers are owned and maintained throughout the optioneering and design process
  • Undertake the role of Principal Designer (and discharge duties in accordance with CDM regulations)
  • Ensure Health and Safety are built into the lifecycle of the design
  • Understand and review potential delivery and operational risks e.g.H&S, environmental, commissioning through the design process
  • Approve designs (from internal or external designers)

What You’ll Bring

You’ll be degree qualified (desirable) and showing your professional commitment as a member of one of the engineering Institutions or actively working towards incorporated or chartered status, a journey which we are keen to support you on. Having water industry background would be great but not essential however a civil discipline would be required.

You will have excellent internal and external stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of people. You will be a forward-thinking capable of anticipating challenges and responding to change in a rapidly evolving environment. A full UK driving licence will be required.

Of course, it’s important that we attract the right skill sets, and those with the right experience but we value character, positivity and a caring attitude in equal weight.
