Senior Design Engineer - Wing Fuel Systems Installation

Senior Design Engineerposition: Visionary Wing Fuel Systems Installation Expert

Airbus is seeking an accomplished Senior Design Engineer to spearhead the Wing Fuel Systems Installation team at our Filton, Bristol facility. Reporting to the Head of Wing Fluid and Mechanical Systems Installation, this pivotal role demands advanced design expertise, strong technical leadership, and collaboration with global customers, stakeholders, and suppliers to shape the future of aerospace innovation.


Key Objectives & Accountabilities

End-to-End Design Leadership

  • Drive cutting-edge conceptual design through to optimisation of current product lines across Airbus’ commercial aircraft portfolio.
  • Ensure seamless transitions between design phases and implementation for fuel system installations.

Operational & In-Service Support

  • Provide critical technical support to global manufacturing sites, in-service aircraft, and continued airworthiness programs.
  • Collaborate with teams to resolve operational issues and enhance system reliability.

Technical Governance

  • Serve as a technical Approval and Authorization signatory for Wing Fuel System designs and production non-conformances, ensuring compliance with regulatory and Airbus standards.

Mentorship & Talent Development

  • Develop the next generation of engineering talent by supporting technical signatories in the team.
  • Expand your own airworthiness delegated authorities, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Required Expertise & Experience

Essential

  • Proven expertise (minimum 10 years) in aerospace Design Engineering, with deep knowledge of aircraft fuel systems installation.
  • Mastery of CATIA V5/V6, including expertise in fuel system layouts, drainage, and structural integration.
  • Demonstrated technical Approval privileges, with a preference for candidates holding (or aiming for) Authorization signatory status within aerospace.
  • Great proficient in stakeholder communication, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.

Highly Desirable

  • Familiarity with configuration and product data management toolsets (e.g., PASS, DPDS, VPM, ICC).
  • Experience working in global manufacturing environments, including potential travel to UK and overseas sites.
  • Adaptability to a dynamic, high-performing team culture.
