Senior Designer
We are looking for a Senior Designer to join the National Theatre's Creative Studio team.
Working under the direction of the Co-Head of Creative Studio - Design, the Senior Designer leads the development and delivery of high-quality, brand-led creative work across the National Theatre.
The Senior Designer is responsible for originating and executing projects from concept through to completion, with a particular focus on evolving and maintaining the National Theatre’s brand across a wide range of touchpoints – ensuring it remains distinctive, coherent and engaging for increasingly diverse, younger and global audiences. Projects span campaign identities, editorial and exhibition design, and motion graphics across Marketing, Digital, Learning and Development and other organisational areas.
A hands-on practitioner, the Senior Designer combines creative excellence with the confidence to lead projects, direct collaborators and contribute to the development of others. The role includes responsibility for the full lifecycle of projects, including art direction and the commissioning of external creatives such as photographers, illustrators and animators, working closely with the Studio Manager and internal partners to ensure successful delivery. The Senior Designer also plays a key role in setting creative standards within the studio – leading by example, collaborating effectively across teams and contributing to a culture of high-quality, thoughtful design.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
