Role: Senior Designer / Design Lead

Location: London, United Kingdom

About the role:

We’re looking for a Senior Designer / Design Lead to elevate the creative output of an embedded/in-house style studio, delivering high-quality design across always-on brand activity, integrated campaigns, and content production. You’ll lead by example—setting craft standards, partnering closely with creative and client stakeholders, and guiding a small team of designers to produce smart, effective, brand-right work at pace.

This role suits someone who is equally strong in conceptual thinking and hands-on execution, thrives in fast-moving environments, and can balance creative ambition with operational reality.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead the design craft across projects—ensuring work is on-brand, conceptually strong, and beautifully executed.
  • Own and elevate design quality through clear art direction, strong layouts, typography, composition, and attention to detail.
  • Set the visual benchmark for the team; establish and maintain design standards, templates, and best practices.
  • Translate brand guidelines into compelling, channel-appropriate executions while knowing when/how to push them.
  • Contribute to and lead ideation sessions, developing visual territories, campaign systems, and content design approaches.
  • Support Creative Directors/Copywriters in bringing ideas to life with strong visual storytelling and clear rationale.
  • Produce moodboards, visual references, storyboards, and early-stage concept explorations.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, feedback, and coaching to midweight/junior designers.
  • Manage design allocation across projects in partnership with Account team.
  • Run constructive critiques and reviews; ensure feedback is clear, actionable, and improves outcomes.
  • Help identify training needs and support growth plans across the design team.
  • Partner with client brand/marketing teams and internal stakeholders to interpret briefs, present work, and manage feedback cycles.
  • Confidently present design decisions, linking creative choices to brand and business objectives.
  • Build trusted relationships and help shape briefs upstream when needed.
  • Deliver high-quality work across digital, social, web, print, retail/OOH, and integrated campaigns.
  • Ensure files are production-ready with strong versioning, accuracy, and compliance with brand/legal requirements.
  • Work efficiently across fast-turn, high-volume environments without sacrificing craft.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging tools, formats, and platform best practices (e.g., social specs, accessibility, motion considerations).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
