Overview of Department

Purpose of Role

The objective of the Investment & Trading stream is to provide the both the Investment and the Trading business teams with first-class Information System capabilities, including the development and delivery of new applications and enhancements to existing systems. The department is responsible for bespoke and packaged software development, focusing on applications essential to our business and ensuring we have the technological tools we need to develop and grow.

To support this work, the Investment & Trading stream is looking for a Senior Developer to join the stream. This role is within the Trading neighbourhood and so relevant experience with trading applications would be advantageous.

You will work as part of a team to both design and deliver excellent solutions, with a strong customer focus. The role will also involve production support for existing priority applications.

You should possess a thorough understanding of the full software development life cycle process, including collaborating with other project areas as well as Business Analysts, Developers and Testers to enable delivery of applications within an Agile framework.

Our culture for learning underpins all of this - we encourage a range of training on a wide range of topics: from our tech stack (Oracle,.NET, Angular, Azure), to investment-focused training on financial concepts, to softer skills.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyse, design, build and test applications
  • Integration of 3rd-party systems
  • Implement systems in the live environment
  • Liaise with the business teams, building strong, trust-based stakeholder relationships across the department and wider firm
  • Work closely with other members of the other project teams to identify and fulfil business requirements with appropriate technical solutions
  • Provide support to users as required
  • Provide training on developed applications when required
  • Contribute to the development of current standards and procedures within your delivery stream, whilst being responsible for continuous improvement across your project/team
  • Take ownership and accountability of delivering to business requirements and within agreed timescales
  • Provide technical expertise as representation for the business domain/project area/stream
  • Ensure documentation, support and governance of projects and development is in place in line with our professional standards
  • Provide guidance, support and technical supervision to less experienced colleagues

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
