Senior Developer – Azure Data Platform (12-Month FTC)
Location: Leicester (Hybrid: 3 days per week in-office)
Contract Type: 12-Month Fixed Term Contract
The Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled Developer / Senior Developer to join a rapidly expanding Business Intelligence Systems team for an industry-leading business. In this 12-month maternity cover contract, you will play a pivotal role in transforming a traditional SQL environment into a modern hybrid cloud data platform.
Working within the Commercial Finance workstream, you will design, build, and modernize data solutions, collaborating with a large, cross-functional team of developers, analysts, and product managers.

Key Responsibilities
- Build & Innovate: Develop robust data solutions to fulfill commercial finance needs, extracting and integrating data from a variety of sources.
- Modernize: Work alongside product owners to define roadmaps, decommissioning legacy SQL systems and replacing them with highly performant, scalable cloud solutions.
- Collaborate: Operate within an agile, multidisciplinary team to support and enhance over 70 active BI products.
What You'll Bring
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Core Technologies: Azure Databricks (or similar Spark-based platforms) and Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- Languages: SQL and Python.
- Data Platforms: Azure Data Lake and SQL Server RDBMS.
- ETL Tools: SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and ADF.
- Soft Skills: Excellent English communication skills and a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

Desirable (Bonus) Skills:
- Languages: PySQL, C#, R.
- Reporting & Modelling: Power BI (or similar), SQL Server SSAS Tabular (DAX), Dimensional Modelling, Data Warehousing.
- Ecosystem & Management: Azure DevOps, SQL MI / DB, Active Batch, APIs, Event Hub, Kafka, AI / ML concepts.
