Senior Development Engineer

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 (depending on experience)

Are you an experienced Development Engineer with a passion for creating bespoke test solutions? Platform Recruitment is partnering with a growing technology company in Cambridge seeking a hands-on engineer to develop advanced test platforms for evaluating next-generation products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop bespoke test equipment and experimental rigs
  • Create software tools to automate testing and improve data handling
  • Develop new methods for evaluating product performance and reliability
  • Utilise 3D CAD to design prototype components, fixtures, and test equipment
  • Build and integrate hardware, instrumentation, and supporting systems
  • Contribute to continuous improvements across testing capabilities and processes

Key Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
  • Ability to design and assemble bespoke fixtures and prototype systems
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD design
  • Strong background in developing and running engineering test programmes
  • Experience creating automated software tools using Python or similar languages
  • Hands-on experience with instrumentation and laboratory equipment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in technical data handling
