Senior Development Engineer
Industry: Electro-mechanical Location: Cambridge Salary: £60,000 – £80,000 (dependent on experience)
Platform Recruitment are partnering with an innovative technology company in Cambridge seeking a hands-on Development Engineer to design advanced test platforms evaluate next-generation products.
This is an exciting role in a dynamic environment, where you'll bring together mechanical, electrical and software expertise to tackle complex engineering challenges and produce high-quality technical data.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop bespoke test equipment and experimental rigs
- Create software tools to automate testing and enhance data processing
- Innovate new techniques for assessing product performance and reliability
- Design prototype components, fixtures and test hardware using 3D CAD
- Build and integrate hardware, instrumentation and support systems
- Drive continuous improvements in testing capabilities and best practices

Key Requirements
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
- Ability to design and assemble bespoke fixtures and prototype systems
- Proficiency in 3D CAD design
- Proven expertise in engineering test programme development and execution
- Experience creating automated software tools (preferably using Python)
- Hands-on experience with instrumentation and laboratory equipment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with rigor in technical data processing
