Senior Development Engineer

Senior Development Engineer

Industry: Electro-mechanical Location: Cambridge Salary: £60,000 – £80,000 (dependent on experience)

Platform Recruitment are partnering with an innovative technology company in Cambridge seeking a hands-on Development Engineer to design advanced test platforms evaluate next-generation products.

This is an exciting role in a dynamic environment, where you'll bring together mechanical, electrical and software expertise to tackle complex engineering challenges and produce high-quality technical data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop bespoke test equipment and experimental rigs
  • Create software tools to automate testing and enhance data processing
  • Innovate new techniques for assessing product performance and reliability
  • Design prototype components, fixtures and test hardware using 3D CAD
  • Build and integrate hardware, instrumentation and support systems
  • Drive continuous improvements in testing capabilities and best practices

Key Requirements

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
  • Ability to design and assemble bespoke fixtures and prototype systems
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD design
  • Proven expertise in engineering test programme development and execution
  • Experience creating automated software tools (preferably using Python)
  • Hands-on experience with instrumentation and laboratory equipment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with rigor in technical data processing
