Senior Development Lead – Guidewire Claim Centre

The purpose of this role is to oversee the efficient delivery of build artefacts, collaborate with software engineers to develop and integrate software solutions, and enhance existing systems to optimise operational applications. This role involves designing, coding, testing, and documenting complex programs and scripts in alignment with specifications and standards, while actively participating in specification reviews with relevant stakeholders.

The Opportunity

QBE Europe is recruiting a Senior Development Lead – Guidewire Claim Center to join our development team in our London office.

The Senior Development Lead – Guidewire ClaimCenter is accountable for the technical leadership, people leadership, and delivery outcomes of one or more Agile delivery teams working on Guidewire ClaimCenter solutions. The role provides hands-on technical leadership while managing developers to ensure solutions are designed and delivered to the highest quality standards, aligned to business outcomes and QBE technology strategy.

The Senior Development Lead works within an Agile delivery model, collaborating closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Architects, Business Analysts, and external partners, while providing direction, coaching, and governance for development teams.

Your new role

  • Provide technical direction and design oversight for Guidewire ClaimCenter solutions
  • Ensure adherence to engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural principles
  • Review and govern solution designs, integrations, and configuration approaches
  • Act as a technical escalation point for complex development and integration issues
  • Ensure high-quality integrations with external systems (APIs, messaging, batch processes, plugins)
  • Coach, and mentor Guidewire developers across multiple experience levels
  • Support skills development, career growth, and succession planning within the team
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration

About you

  • Strong leadership capability with proven experience leading and managing software changes
  • Deep technical expertise in Guidewire ClaimCenter development (UI, workflows, Gosu scripting, GUnit tests)
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels of the organisation
  • High attention to detail combined with a pragmatic delivery mindset
  • Ability to translate business strategy into clear technical direction
  • Proven hands-on experience designing and delivering Guidewire ClaimCenter solutions
  • Strong knowledge of Gosu and Java Integration patterns (web services, messaging, batch processes, plugins)
  • Strong experience working in Agile delivery environments
  • Experience authoring and governing technical documentation
  • Strong experience with CI/CD, source control, and release management (Git, Azure DevOps, branching strategies)
  • Experience using issue and work-tracking tools such as JIRA
  • Certified in Guidewire v10 Integration and Configuration (ACE certification preferred).
