Senior DevOps / DevEx Engineer
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior DevOps / DevEx Engineer based in United Kingdom.
As a Senior DevOps / DevEx Engineer, you will play a key role in building and scaling internal engineering platforms that enable teams to deliver software faster, safer, and more efficiently. You will design developer tools, automation frameworks, and infrastructure solutions that improve engineering workflows and promote self-service capabilities. Working at the intersection of software development, cloud infrastructure, and platform engineering, you will help shape the future of engineering productivity in an AI-driven development landscape. This role offers the opportunity to solve complex technical challenges, influence platform strategy, and empower engineering teams through innovative solutions. You will collaborate with talented engineers in a remote-first environment where ownership, experimentation, and continuous improvement are highly valued.
Accountabilities
- Design, build, and maintain internal development platforms, tools, services, and automation that enable engineering teams to ship software efficiently and reliably.
- Improve developer experience by creating intuitive self-service workflows, frameworks, and abstractions that encourage best practices while maintaining team autonomy.
- Develop and enhance CI/CD systems, deployment workflows, release automation, feature management processes, and infrastructure tooling.
- Build scalable infrastructure solutions using modern DevOps practices, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud-native technologies.
- Identify engineering pain points, proactively develop solutions, and continuously improve internal platforms based on developer needs.
- Support the adoption of AI-powered development tools while ensuring security, reliability, and architectural standards remain strong.
- Collaborate with engineers across teams to understand challenges, contribute to technical decisions, and influence platform roadmap priorities.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, incident response activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Take ownership of major DevOps and DevEx initiatives, driving projects from concept through implementation and delivery.

Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, DevEx, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Platform Engineering, or a similar role with a strong software development focus.
- Strong programming experience, particularly with Python or similar languages, and the ability to build reliable internal tools and automation.
- Proven experience designing and improving developer platforms, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and engineering workflows.
- Hands-on experience with cloud environments, especially AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Infrastructure as Code, and GitHub-based development workflows.
- Strong understanding of modern software delivery practices, cloud-native architectures, and platform engineering principles.
- Builder mindset with the ability to create practical solutions rather than simply configure existing tools.
- Proactive approach with strong ownership skills and the ability to identify opportunities, solve problems, and drive improvements independently.
- Interest in AI technologies, large language models, and how emerging tools can improve software development processes.
- Ability to work effectively in a distributed remote environment with strong communication and collaboration skills.
