About the role...

Parico is seeking a talented Senior DevOps Engineer to work on exciting and dynamic projects who prospers against the challenge of working closely with a small business to solve complex and challenging problems across the Public Sector landscape. You’ll have the freedoms to be truly innovative to roll up your sleeves, get stuck into the detail of systems, and generally do what it takes to achieve incredible technical solutions to our customer’s complex problems.

You will be part of a team developing greenfield services for our clients, using cloud services and on-premise infrastructure while developing Continuous Integration pipelines with different tools and technologies to enable our Software and Infrastructure engineers to rapidly develop, test and push out products to production.

What you'll be doing - your accountabilities

  • Designing and delivering infrastructure for complex customer environments.
  • Taking technical ownership of projects from design through to delivery.
  • Working closely with customers to understand requirements and factoring these into design.
  • Leading the design and implementation of cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
  • Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation and configuration management.
  • Designing monitoring, logging and alerting to improve the reliability of customer platforms.
  • Ensuring solutions are secure, scalable and easy to support.
  • Troubleshooting complex platform and infrastructure issues.
  • Providing technical leadership to other engineers throughout project delivery.
  • Mentoring, and supporting the development of junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Reviewing technical designs and implementations to maintain a high standard of work.
  • Working with development teams to improve deployment, testing and operational processes.
  • Contributing to technical proposals, solution designs and project estimates.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve engineering standards, automation and delivery practices.
  • Producing clear technical documentation for both customers and internal teams.
  • Working within Agile delivery teams and providing regular updates to customers, Scrum Masters and Product Owners.

The skills you will need to succeed

  • Experience and track record of building and managing customer environments.
  • Experience with Docker and containerisation. Kubernetes experience is advantageous.
  • Good networking knowledge (TCP/IP, Ports, DNS, network troubleshooting)
  • Solid Linux command line skills (administration, package management, bash scripting). RedHat preferred.
  • Worked with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins or GitHub actions. Administration and building pipelines.
  • Monitoring and logging experience (ELK/Grafana)
  • Experience working with at least one cloud platform – building, deploying and configuring services. On-premise experience such as VMware is preferred but is not essential.
  • Experience of DevOps environments, Scripting and automation (Infrastructure as Code), with skills in Terraform and Ansible.
