Job Description

Responsible for implementing and supporting improvements, efficiency enhancements, software quality, and accelerating delivery times. This role fosters a shared responsibility between development/operations, with a focus on people, process, and tools, driven by a unified customer/user-centric approach. In a multi-disciplinary team working alongside Development, QA, IT Operations, Infosec, UCD, etc., the goal is to champion best practices in DevOps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Extensive experience of DevOps tooling and containerisation
  • Communication: Translate business requirements into technical implementations for stakeholders
  • Facilitate business knowledge: Act as a business Subject Matter Expert (SME) while aligning business needs with an efficient DevOps team
  • Stakeholder Management: Negotiate and influence stakeholders to ensure service effectiveness and optimal resource allocation

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 5+ years as a DevOps Engineer
  • Strong knowledge of AWS and CI/CD pipeline creation/maintenance
  • Practical experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, and Helm
  • Knowledge of Java (Spring) is ideal
  • Extensive experience in cloud computing, best practices, and emerging technologies
  • Experience with multiple ecosystem databases, architecture, and integration
  • Proficiency in monitoring tools to ensure system reliability and performance

Technical Specialisations

  • Kubernetes & Helm:
    • Strong understanding of container orchestration with Kubernetes and package management using Helm.
  • Cloud Services (AWS):
    • Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
    • Knowledge of tools like Terraform.
  • CI/CD:
    • Proficiency in setting up and maintaining pipelines (particularly with Jenkins).
  • Database Management:
    • Experience with schema change management (e.g., Liquibase).
  • Scripting:
    • Ability to write automation scripts (e.g., Python).
  • GitOps:
    • Understanding of GitOps principles.
  • Java & Maven:
    • Experience with Java programming and Maven builds.
  • Core Principles:
    • Mindset focused on automation, proactive monitoring, continuous improvement, and defining best practices.
