Job Description
About the Role
GolfNow is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to lead the modernisation, scalability, and reliability of our infrastructure across development and production environments.
In this role, you’ll report to the Director of DevOps – International and work closely with software engineers, product managers, and support teams to evolve our cloud-first DevOps practice.
This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex problems, influencing architecture, and mentoring others—while building robust, maintainable systems at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement robust, scalable, and secure infrastructure in AWS.
- Lead or contribute to migration projects, helping move legacy, customer-hosted systems into cloud-native architectures.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform.
- Guide improvements to system architecture, focusing on:
- Reliability
- Observability
- Cost-efficiency
- Contribute to modernising our CI/CD practices, enabling safe, rapid delivery of services across environments.
- Improve operational visibility through:
- Monitoring
- Logging
- Tracing
- Incident response efforts
- Mentor junior engineers and help establish:
- Engineering standards
- Documentation practices
- Design reviews
- Align DevOps tooling and processes across Versant, promoting:
- Platform consistency
- Best practices

Qualifications
Essential Requirements
✔ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
✔ 5+ years of hands-on experience in:
- DevOps, SRE (Site Reliability Engineering), or platform engineering roles
- A strong focus on cloud infrastructure
✔ Deep understanding of:
- Linux systems
- Networking
- Distributed architectures
✔ Strong experience with:
- AWS services (e.g., EC2, ECS/EKS, VPC, IAM, RDS, CloudWatch)
- Infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
✔ Experience:
- Designing and building resilient, scalable systems across environments and tenants
- Managing containerised workloads in production (e.g., Docker, ECS, Kubernetes)
- Running and operating cloud-based infrastructure
✔ Proficiency in:
- CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows
- Scripting or programming (e.g., Bash, Python, Go)
✔ Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to:
- Work across teams
- Bridge technical and business disciplines
Nice-to-Have (Additional Strengths)
🟢 Experience managing Java application environments:
- JVM tuning
- Build systems

🟢 Ansible expertise for configuration management and automation
🟢 Cloudflare knowledge (DNS, security, CDN)
🟢 Database management in production (PostgreSQL or MySQL)
🟢 Experience leading or participating in cloud migration efforts
🟢 Familiarity with multi-tenant SaaS architectures
🟢 Experience with observability platforms (e.g., Datadog, Splunk, ELK)
🟢 Modern AWS networking practices
🟢 Interest in the golf industry or experience with booking/membership/golf course operations platforms
