Job Description: DevOps Engineer
Responsible for implementing and supporting improvements in efficiency, software quality, and accelerating delivery times. Holding a shared responsibility between development/operations, with a focus on people, processes, and tools, while taking a unified customer/user-centric approach. In a multi-disciplinary team with Development, QA, IT Operations, Infosec, and UCD, collaboratively achieving a common goal of applying best practice in DevOps.
Key Responsibilities
- Extensive experience of DevOps tooling, containers, and containerisation
- Communication: Translate business requirements into technical implementations
- Facilitate business knowledge: Act as a business Subject Matter Expert (SME), understanding business needs and integrating them into an efficient DevOps team
- Stakeholder management: Negotiate, influence, and ensure services run effectively, aligning efforts with stakeholder goals

** Qualifications & Skills**
Essential Experience
- 5+ years as a DevOps Engineer
- Strong knowledge of:
- AWS and CI/CD pipeline creation and maintenance
- Containerisation (e.g., Docker)
- Kubernetes & Helm (container orchestration, Helm package management)
- Java (ideal, especially Spring)
- Extensive experience with cloud computing, best practices and emerging technologies
- Experience with:
- Multiple ecosystem databases, architectures, and integration principles
- Monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (e.g., Terraform)
- CI/CD (e.g., Kafka, Jenkins)
- Scripting (e.g., Python, Bash)
- Database Management (e.g., schema change tools, Liquibase)
- Mindset focused on:
- Automation
- Proactive monitoring
- Continuous improvement
- Best practice definition
Must Haves
- Willingness to travel
- Right to work in the UK
- Ability to attain a UK Security Clearance
